We would like to call your attention to an innovative format for highly qualified young researchers with the ambition to break through societal challenges – the Falling Walls Lab on 8 November 2014. With the slogan “Share Your Idea!” the Falling Walls Lab offers hundreds of young scientists, entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world a stage to pitch their research work, initiatives or business models to their peers and a distinguished jury from academia and business – in 3 minutes each.
The three most intriguing presenters will be awarded the title “Falling Walls Young Innovator of the Year”, will receive a cash prize and will get the opportunity to present their idea on the grand stage of the Falling Walls Conference on 9 November 2014. At the Conference, 20 top-class scientists from around the world present their current breakthrough research answering the question “Which are the next walls to fall?” This year, Prof. Suzanne Topalian from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, one of the world’s leading experts in immunotherapy, and the bioengineer Prof. Karl Deisseroth (Stanford University) are amongst the attending speakers.
Applications for the Falling Walls Lab Berlin can be made through the website www.falling-walls.com/lab/apply. Application deadline: 21 September 2014. The event will be held in English. All Falling Walls Lab participants receive a ticket for the Falling Walls Conference. Participants do not pay charges, apart from their own travel expenses.

gerne möchten wir Sie auf das Falling Walls Lab Berlin aufmerksam machen, eine innovative Plattform für Nachwuchswissenschaftler und Young Professionals, die sich dem interdisziplinären Austausch und der Vernetzung widmet. 100 junge Forscher, Jungunternehmer und Innovatoren aus aller Welt präsentieren am 8. November 2014 ihre Forschungsprojekte, Ideen und Initiativen zu gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen vor einer hochkarätigen Jury – in jeweils 3 Minuten. Die drei Gewinner des Lab werden von der Jury zu den „Falling Walls Young Innovators of the Year“ gekürt, erhalten einen Geldpreis und treten mit ihren 3-Minuten-Vorträgen als Sprecher auf der Falling Walls Conference vor internationalem Publikum auf.
Das Falling Walls Lab findet im Rahmen der internationalen Falling Walls Conference statt, die jedes Jahr am Tag des Mauerfalls am 9. November 20 Spitzenforscher einlädt, ihre wissenschaftlichen Durchbrüche zu präsentieren. Für dieses Jahr haben u.a. Prof. Suzanne Topalian (Johns Hopkins School of Medicine) – eine der führenden Forscherinnen im Bereich der Immuntherapie –, sowie der Bioingenieur Prof. Karl Deisseroth von der Stanford University als Sprecher zugesagt.
Die Bewerbung für das Falling Walls Lab erfolgt online auf www.falling-walls.com/apply. Bewerbungsschluss ist der 21. September 2014. Die Veranstaltungssprache ist Englisch. Reisekosten können leider nicht übernommen werden. Mit der Einladung zum Falling Walls Lab erhält jeder Teilnehmer ein A.T. Kearney-Stipendium, das den Eintritt zur Falling Walls Conference und eine Übernachtung beinhaltet.
